PCI QIR Qualification –Resellers, is it right for your company?

Share

blog photo 3_10_16What is a QIR Qualification and is it right for your company? A QIR is a Qualified Integrator and Reseller Professional who is certified to install, configure, and support PA-DSS validated payment applications for merchants. As we all know, the focus these days is on EMV and EMV-ready applications, but little attention is really given to the resellers that are selling and installing such applications. It is not limited to EMV. Any merchant installing a PA-DSS payment application should be using a company that is a PCI-certified QIR professional. The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI-SSC) maintains a list of QIR certified companies for merchants to access — are you on that list? I have included a link to the PCI-SSC requirements document for those companies seeking QIR certification:

Visa® has issued a Small Merchant Security Bulletin which requires Level 4 merchants to use only QIR Companies for their POS and Payment Application installations. An acquirer will not be allowed to board a merchant as of March 31st 2016 if they are not installed by a QIR. Further, effective January 31, 2017, acquirers must assure that all existing Level 4 merchants use PCI-certified QIR professionals for servicing their POS software and hardware. I have also included a link to the Visa® Bulletin:

You can apply for the certification on the PCI-SSC website, but if you are a member of RSPA, they have a certification program you can take advantage of as well. Merchants are looking to secure their payment environment which also includes you, the reseller that installs and services their POS. Get certified and let your merchants know that you are serious about protecting their business.
